Our Communities

Caleres has a long history of giving back to the communities where we live and work. Through the Caleres Cares Charitable Trust and employee volunteerism, we are continuously working to serve our neighbors, strengthen our communities, and provide support for those in the footwear industry.

Caleres Cares Charitable Trust

In 1921, our founder, George Warren Brown, established a trust to award funds to charitable organizations. A century later, our Caleres Cares Charitable Trust continues to support worthy organizations that help people live better.

The Trust supports organizations through grants as well as a matching gift program that matches $1 for every $1 an eligible Associate gives to a qualified organization.

Through the Trust, we support charitable organizations that strategically align with our mission, vision, and values, with priority grant funding for initiatives that:

  • Care for and develop stronger families
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Share our dedication to a journey toward sustainability
  • Benefit the St. Louis community in maintaining and attracting businesses and residents by ensuring a rich arts and cultural environment
  • Support our leadership position in the footwear industry

Grant Awards:

  • We encourage 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organizations to apply for a Caleres Cares grant. Organizations we support must be good corporate citizens, have a targeted focus on our corporate mission to live better feet first, and align with one or more of the initiatives outlined above.
  • Caleres Cares does not support any organization that has a written policy of discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
  • The Trust generally does not support special events such as galas, walks, golf outings, trivia nights, etc. Grants are not made to individuals.
  • The Caleres Cares Charitable Trust Committee meets quarterly to consider all qualified applications. March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31 are the deadlines for submitting grant proposals to be considered at the following quarterly meeting.
  • Grant applications must be submitted through CyberGrants. Use the link below to complete a brief eligibility quiz and register your organization. (If you registered on our previous platform, you will need to do so again on CyberGrants.) Once you successfully register your account, you can proceed with the online application for your grant request, including uploading the required documents. The eligibility quiz and account registration only need to be completed one time per organization.

Matching Gifts:

  • Our matching gift program matches $1 for every $1 an eligible Associate gives to a qualified organization.

Making a Difference in Our Hometown

While Caleres is a global company, we remain deeply connected to St. Louis, where our company began and where it is headquartered. Over the years, Caleres has given more than $30 million to the St. Louis community and continues to be one of the city’s major giving organizations.

Advancing the Shoe Industry

The footwear industry is known for coming together to support each other. We are proud to be part of this network, and of our work to support footwear employees in their careers and personal lives through the Two Ten Footwear Foundation and Women In The Footwear Industry (WIFI).
